Main Church, Kymenlaakso, Finland
3.5 (16 reviews) Spent Ranking #10 in Kouvola Churches & Cathedrals
A very unusual looking church
This oddly looking construction was completed in 1977. The building looks more like a sports hall than a church. The interiors are not much different. The very modern altarpiece symbolizes Jesus and his apostles. The best part is the organ.

The Main Church of city of Kouvola in Finland does not look like a traditional church
When you visit the Main Church in the city of Kouvola, you recognize it from a cross, but not very easily. This building looks like a box, but if you go in, you find out quite peaceful and harmonic room of God. There is a lot of light and space to have an experience, and that's why this church is worth of visiting. And if you manage to stay there during a music concert, acoustics is very good!

Not A Supermarket
It may not look that attractive from outside but dare to step in and enjoy the simplistic, late 1970s architecture - yet so modern. Or go to a concert and be pleasantly surprised by the acoustics of the space. The story goes that in late 1970s when the church was built, old people staying at the health canter/hospital across the street assumed yet another supermarket was under construction.
