Presents Good Photo Opportunities
Hamina can be described as a military town and so possesses this rather impressive military building, fronting onto a parade ground and with statues and canon around the four sides. If you approach from the town hall, then you walk along a path lined with flags and past some canon; a path then takes you off to the side and leads to the Bastion (fortress). We are keen photographers, particularly my other half, and this building and surrounding environment certainly presents lots of good photo opportunities.

Reserve Officer School from 1898 and nice park around it
The building of the stately Reserve Officer School (Reserviupseerikoulu) was built in 1898. It is very impressive. There is also a beautiful park around the building. You see some monuments there, e.g. a statue to Finnish officers who died in the wars of 1939-1945. Notice also a well from the 1860's.
