Easy to find and parking outside next to the school. Security on view, its good to donate to cover a small suggested fee, two floors of history to explore. Friendly volunteer, interesting place and visit the garden area which houses a few gems especially the old vehicle.

    Little historic gem
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by this gem of a museum during our recent stay in the Drakensberg. Entrance to the museum is free but a nominal donation is welcome (R10 recommended). The museum is a treasure chest filled with memorabilia of the history of the area and its early inhabitants. Special focus is on the Zulu history, the San Art and the Boer war. The museum boasts one of the most complete book collections of the Boer war by Carel Hollenbach. We were amazed by the Weston Caravan. The Zulu beehive huts were also interesting. As you go around the corner to go to the back where the Zulu huts and Weston caravan is, look out for the petrified trees and memorial plates. The museum and grounds are well maintained and our visit was very informative and fun. Do read up on the history of the museum beforehand to fully appreciate the contents and history of this little gem.

Anglo Boer War Museum and relics
Not a planned stop-Drove by my accident- We loved it, relating history to our 7 yr old. Curator was very friendly and accommodating. Our son loved seeing all the history and we were able to show him all relevant info before making our way to Spioenskop. The old Camper van was a rarity not often found. Wish I had one of my own!
