Coconut Beach. Family run.

First stop off in Koh Rong. Nice bungalows, great views. Run by a friendly family. We were offered a transport service from the pier which was really appreciated. We were also able to rent a moped from the family at a discounted rate to get out and explore the area. Stayed for 3 nights and swam with plankton, saw a fire show, and took a snorkelling tour. Great location although a little difficult to get out and about without a moped.

    Lovely balanced Koh Rong beach
Lovely beach with moderate development. Very clean with rare trash compared to most other beaches we visited on KR. Numerous tent and bungalow options. Not noisy unless you are at the far south side of beach next to bar. Poor vegetarian options if that is important to you, compared to more developed beaches. Water is clean with wide shallows, minimal seaweed. Not much for snorkeling if that’s your thing but there are trips based out of here like all other beaches. You can see the lights of Sihanoukville in the distance at night which may alter your general sense of isolation, long set and soksan beaches do not see Sihanoukville at night. Nice healthy courteous beach dogs throughout. We did connection from Sihanoukville via “speed ferry” which made it unclear that the 5pm afternoon arrival boat actually drops off at long set beach with a free 15 min truck ride to coconut beach and subsequent walk down the hill which might be difficult for some travelers with heavy luggage. Make sure to double check where boat will drop off so you aren’t surprised. This may vary depending on season. The road to other beaches is rough at times (unlaced throughout, patches of sand and some rocky terrain patches) so you should feel somewhat confident on a scooter if you are renting one to get around. Food options more limited than koh rong more developed areas like sok san, long set, main harbor, etc. mostly basic Khmer, mild versions of thai, and standard Khmer interpretations of western fare. One western style pizza restaurant. Prices cheaper than the developed areas both with lodging and food. You can walk from here to Nature beach in half an hour. About half an hour from there walking a jungle path along the water to long set beach. Scooter around 40 minutes to sok San beach. Look at google map satellite images for roads and paths.
