Nice Museum in Downtown Knoxville

My wife/I visited this attraction and found it very interesting. The exhibits told a very thorough history of East Tennessee with visual and audio displays. Make sure you visit the archives library on yhe 3rd floor. They have a very extensive collection of historical books and documents of Tennessee.

    Small but enjoyable
Quite a few things to look at. Saul Davy Crockett‘s rifle. Actual cabin that you could walk into and get the feel of. Artwork on display of portraits. Dolly Parton’s red dress. Too many things to go into detail spent an hour and a half in the museum. Cost was very nominal four dollars a person.

Huh? Does East Tennessee have History?
Before we took this trip I was joking to friends that we chose this museum because we figured it wouldn't take long. How much history can East Tennessee have? I was joking of course. And the reality is that East Tennessee has a fascinating and complex history. This museum does an outstanding job of presenting that history. All of it, the good and the not so good. Lot's to learn too. I had not realized, for example, that Knoxville was Tennessee's first state capital. At $4 per person, this museum is a bargain.
