Kalvystes Muziejus, Klaipeda County, Lithuania

4.5 (12 reviews) Spent Ranking #31 in Klaipeda Speciality Museums

Worth a visit

It is quite an excentric museum with like minded people working there. Somebody saved a lot of work from being melted down. There are great examples of crosses, benches, lanterns and other metal works. Lithuania used to be a pagan country and one can see a lot of works that were influenced on their beliefs. There is also blacksmith working in a separate building.

I am writing this review for it was on my hit-list but I never managed to get in. It took a bit of finding although it was clearly maked on the map. Several locals could not tell me how to get there and so I did quite an interesting tour before getting the right help. I found it eventually but was quickly demolished for it is CLOSED on a Sunday. I hope anyone-else wanting to visit will notice this review and make better plans than I did.

There have a pretty good array of clocks but not too many that blew me away. They do a nice job of explaining the history of clocks, however. Make sure to get an audio guide as there is very little signage in English.
