Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street, Kinki, Japan

Beyond anything I could have imagined ...

Shinsaibashi-Sub is 600 metres of retail therapy from discount to high end, surrounded by more shopping and tonnes of places to eat on the side streets. I'd read about it but nothing could prepare me for the experience. It can't be rushed, mainly because of the crowds, but also because there is just so much to see and buy. If you do need a break, I recommend a 20 minute cruise on the Dotonbiri river. It was fun, even with a light drizzle.

A lot of cute cafés there
It's a shopping area so of course there are tons of stores to shop at. The selection is great. My friend and I stayed at a Bside label store for over an hour without even noticing we spent that much time in that sticker store. ? There is a Gram cafe there so if you want to eat the fluffy souffle pancakes (only served at specific times), you can get them there! There is also a Guest cafe there, if you're interested in seeing who the guest for the season is. And of course, for the Pokemon fans, there's a Pokemon centre and a Pokemon cafe (needs a reservation) there.

Must go when you are in Osaka
Shinsaibashi is the main shopping area in Osaka. Lots and lots of shops and restaurants. And even more tourists crowding the area. Still, one must visit Shinsaibashi when in Osaka even if it's just to absorb the energy and vibe of the city. Go at night for the dazzling night view with all the neon signs. There's bound to be something, whether shopping or eating, for everyone.
