    Nice food street!
Coming by here reminded me of Osaka Kuromon market, where most of the stalls/shops located here were selling foodstuffs (or as eateries and restaurants for BBQ/grilled seafood and meat). Just like all other shopping streets, this place is covered over a long stretch of walkway and regardless rain or shine out there, you can shop or eat in peace! It's a huge place and so if you plan to come here, do allocate sufficient time! As it was weekend and getting closed to evening, the place was quite crowded as many locals/visitors rushed here for their dinner and thus many eateries had queues formed up! It's a good place to indulge and experience local food culture and tastes and surely it's a good place to taste Kyoto's flavour too! People here were friendly and handed out samples too and so you can try before deciding to dine or buy the foodstuffs. And just next to it is another shopping street, Sanjo, which I will review separately, but that's more for shopping for lifestyle products like fashion, shoes, bags, toys, souvenirs etc.

    Nishiki Market Tour and Brunch
Visiting the Nishiki markets in Kyoto was an excellent experience. The market area is a surprisingly long street with many and varied food shops and cookings on display which we enjoyed very much. Although there are other types of shops to see, the food outlets are memorable. Tomoe was keen for us to taste a variety of Japanese cooking offerings. She was a delightful guide who explained any question regarding food, food sourcing and preparation expertly. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the market area and adjacent shrines. Our tour concluded with a most pleasant brunch of local fare. We highly recommend this market and brunch experience with Tomoe as your guide.
