Excellent museum
It is a museum of Hikone Castle. When you buy a combination ticket, you can visit the castle, garden and this museum. I strongly recommend you to buy it and visit this museum. There are interesting exhibits about Ii Family, the feudal lord of Hikone. You can even see an authentic No stage.

Interesting artifacts from a bygone era
If you're interested in old Japan, this would make for a good visit. Items from the time of the samurai are displayed in the museum (armor, weapons), written records, noh masks and costumes. The building itself is a beautiful restoration of an old building used as the office of the lord of Hikone, and also served as his home. The rooms are recreated, some of them opening to beautiful gardens.

Nice museum displays
The Hikone Castle Museum located halfway between the JR Hakone Station and the Castle. Worth to pay a visit there in order to know more information and view the artifacts about the area in the past hundred years time prior to entering the Castle.
