Gorgeous
The scenery here is gorgeous. I came in January and the hills were snow covered and the lake was frozen over. I walked all over the lake. A herd of wild yak even ran across to say hello. The town here is quiet. It’s a great place to escape to. I wish I had more time to explore here.

Dance on ice
Coming from the Tropics, be prepared for a very brutal cold weather during winter, from 30c to - 26c is not a joke, although the scenery will take your breath away. Since flight from UB to Murun was only operational in March, I took a 700km bus ride to get a kick out of it... what more to say but to marvel the winteric scenery.. My destination is a 150 km from the south shore at Khatgal to the North Khuvsgul Tourist camp across the lake at Khankh. Awesome sight of the frozen lake a short hike on the ridge . The only restaurant is 3 or 4 km away at a Soum center nearby..and the road to the Russian border.. Be prepared to experience a different dimension of Winter Lake Khuvsgul.

stay here 6days in summer time
i believe can't afford winter day here over 3days as i hate cold weather but summer time is ok. esp for some festival take place in jul. i do visit Tsaatan Festival & Naadam festival both of Hovsgol and Murun. all of them are very nice & not hard to arrange it. also do few days trekking to several path by myself(maps me could help you but don't walk too deep/off-path in the forest as a bit dangerous). although i didn't join tour to go further of lake as i hate horse riding but everything is impressive and beautiful esp for good weather time.
