Safe Harbor Rentals, Kentucky, United States

2.5 (11 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Monticello Boat Rentals

Overall with good friends there are no bad times. We had a blast as usual.

We planned a last min trip. I am sure there are better alternatives to Safe Harbor. I recommend doing that. Our cabin had close to no lighting. I unpacked with my phone flash light. The entire cabin was ridiculously under lit. You couldn’t find a thing it was so dark. They should probably tell you its BYO lights. There were mouse droppings in the silverware. All of the wood is warped and none of the doors close. The internet never worked and we missed scheduled meetings. We called and they never fixed it. We rented a boat and none of the doors latched so it was open doors on the water when you’re driving. There was a plaque on the stearing column that said the boat was due Back at 5pm EST. When we got in it was actually due back at 5pm Central Time. So we were shorted an hour. We brought that up and it was shrugged off. The boat we rented from State Dock was nice, new, clean and safe. The staff at Safe Harbor was very friendly. However, it seems cleanliness, safety And customer service are not concerns to management. Also behind the rental office and rental slips it is a lake of floating trash. Its as if the boats are cleaned by tossing everything in the lake. Its disgusting and heartbreaking.

Cleanliness and safety not priority here

Better communication With The office To the Customer. Better radio connection from the Office when boater is in need of help. Repairs That are reported Or visibly noticed by the clean crew Need to be completed. This was not our first houseboat, we've done this trip for 15 yrs, however this was the first time from Beaver Creek. We have had issues with other house boats. This one was by far was the most frustrating , After reading the other reviews The CO2 monitors were the biggest Frustration. Aside from lack of communication with the dock when we were having trouble. I will say the staff We had communication with, from Tischa Who helped us load our luggage and items when we Arrived and when we were leaving, to the young men who came to our rescue when those monitors were going off, second time we had problems with those It took 5 hours To be checked on. We are very aware also of the shortage of help everywhere End the post covid Mess and lack of revenue to fix things. That being said here is the list of issues with Stargazer 51. Biggest is the CO2 alarms, there must be a reason everyone's a negative review including this. The microwave door was broken, The frame of the door was cracked and taped together with electrical tape. This needs to be replaced. There were light bulbs missing we're burned out, one of the flood lights on the Deck Was missing. The horn did not work. We were getting different readings on the generator/oil pressure. This made us very unsure with Going out on the water, coming back into dock.I The tank for the grill was very blistered,It seemed it needed to be replaced And tossed. I'm aware of the heavy wear and tear On these boats, But there were many floorboards that needed to be replaced Throughout the boat Including the bathrooms. towel bar for the large bathroom was laying in the closet. The door for Bedroom Nearest the kitchen Was off track and could not be used. I think the biggest thing for many of us was either the platform beds were so high and difficult to get into Or The other bedrooms the mattress was were laying on the floor without a platform. There was one room we fondly called Hobbit room. The door height came to our hip,You had to get on your knees to enter the room.Even once in the room it was not tall enough for an adult to stand in.Kids however would love it. It did not have a door, although there was evidence of prior one. The side door by the wheel was difficult to close all the way there Were little issues That were fixed. The guys that came To our boat were very nice and accommodating. Pros: There was plenty of floor space And a decent amount of kitchen space.I liked the built in Counter space to sit at. The front bathroom was a nice size.Even the shower was a normal size. There is a dryer to dry the swim towels. There was a hot tub, (lol only one even though the add and receipt stated 3) although the temperature never was consistent. Covered top deck
