Houseboat Rental at Burnside

I held an employee TEAM building training exercise on a houseboat rented from Safe Harbor at Burnside Marina. For me the entire experience was a success because of Juanita. AKA (Nita). Last year when I contemplated this experience she (Nita) took it upon herself to show me around the marina, gave me a tour of a boat her team was preparing for a turnaround rental and was friendly and professional. This year at the pickup she again right there, right on. As a matter of fact she called the moment the boat was ready for an early pickup if I wanted. The next day she arranged to deliver lunch supplies that I needed for my group and acted like this above and beyond customer service was the norm for Burnside. The support of the staff as I returned the boat was very good. I was apprehensive about this type venue for a meeting, but because things went so smoothly I am considering it again for next year's semi-annual conference.

    Lost us as a customer
We have been going to Burnside for vacation for several years. This year (2017) we called to rent a boat slip but was told nothing was available. Lady said she'd have somebodycall us back to see if there was anything they could do. No call. I called back 3 times, nothing. I explained it put us in a predicament. They won't let you reserve a slip but a day or two before you need it. We were already at the lake, the house we rented for the week is not conducive to our boat. The driveway too narrow and WAY to steep for the size of our boat. So now we were stuck with a boat we couldn't take to the rental and NO slip. Finally on my 4th call to Burnside marina, I talked to a lady who said we don't recognize your name so we can't rent a spot to you. We've dealt with Dick for 9 years....never a problem. But this year, no luck. After I told her we've been renting from burnside for 9 years every fall, she said let me see what I can do and I'll call back. But for us to know, shed charge $50 a night. We never heard another word back from her. We didn't even bother to call back. Took our boat to conley bottom. MUCH cleaner marina, staff very friendly and they charged me $20 ($120 weekly) a night for a covered slip with water and electricas opposed to $50 ($350 weekly) at Burnside. They have officially lost a customer and by the looks of their marina, they can't afford to lose any business. We won't go back

    Average Marina
This place has a free boat ramp which is nice. It worked fine for our boat. We paid to park the boat along the walk way and that worked okay. I am surprised over the years they haven't built a better store with more food options than what they have. I feel like they are missing some opportunities for more business. You can't go wrong with it though and I am glad it's there.
