"Stumbras Museum" gives an overview on the development of alcohol consumption culture in Lithuania and presents the role of the company in the process of industrialization. Visitors may get acquainted with the history of the distillery: century-old buildings, documents from archives and photographs. The exposition shows a collection of historical things related with "Stumbras" company including devices used in the process of production, labels and packing variety. A part of the museum is devoted to a room of Mykolas Velykis who was a co-owner of the distillery in the interwar period. The room is furnished following authentic traditions of those times. Visitors of "Stumbras Museum" have an exceptional opportunity to walk around the distillery and see how Stumbras' drinks are produced and bottled in present modern factory.

    One of the best distillery/brewery tours in the world.
    More than a museum, this is a working distillery that provides one of the best tours of distilleries and breweries anywhere in the world. I'd go to Lithuania just to visit the place again. The tour is well-structured and educational and takes the visitor through all stages of the distilling process. This involves visiting rooms filled with the heady aromas of the many botanicals that go into Stumbras products. Our tour guide - I wish I could remember her name - was fantastic, challenging us to identity the tastes and accents of the many Stumbras bottlings we were invited to sample. The tour ended in a classroom where the tasting and analysing began in earnest. I thought I knew it all about distilling alcohol but this experience gave me an expanded understanding of how good drinks are made. This was reflected in the number of bottles I purchased in the distillery shop at the end of the tour. I'm now slowly working my way through these delicious tipples, recalling with each sip that happy hour I spent in the Stumbras distillery.

    Lovely atmosphere and tasting!
    We were lucky enough to get a peek and taste of this wonderful distillery. I recommend it highly. The lady showing us the museum was really lovely and helpful and she let us taste the rare and wonderful products too. There is a gooorgeus honey and ginger schnapps that is only sold here and it must be the elixir of life. You have to book in advance for admission but it's well worth the visit. It gives you an interesting and different perspective of Kaunas' history.
