Magnificent building

Went through this station a couple of times while staying in Tokyo a few days. It is a whirlwind of activity, can be a bit overwhelming and easy to get lost . Plenty of signage about and I find it best if unsure about anything to ask staff members who are always happy to help . It is a very historic and iconic building, looks fantastic when you approach it , lovely red brick architecture, it is only one of a few brick buildings in Tokyo I think. Have seen quite a few people having wedding photos done there. Well worth a visit even if you are not travelling on the great Japanese train system.

Take your time to explore Tokyo station
Tonnes of shops and restaurants inside station and nearby areas. Lockers tips- storage is charged per lock within 24 hours (aka. cannot reopen or reclose) easy payment by typical cash card like Suica or Pasmo. There’s plenty of JR ticket sales centre in different corners, so if you see one that is very busy, just move to another centre. May seem very hectic with so many different platforms to board your train, simple just use google map and should get you sorted.

A great architecture from the outside, a lot of fun inside!
When arriving at the station from the outside, we start our journey by admiring the architecture and style of the building. By itself, it is worth the detour. Inside, we continue our adventure through the discovery of a very large labyrinth of restaurants (offering an incredible variety of food), cafés, and shops spread over several floors. We can easily spend the afternoon there, and have a snack or proper meal at a decent price. Interestingly, I was visiting the station with friends, when suddenly two lovely persons came to us to help with directions and suggestions (as navigating through the station, that is huge, may sometimes be complicated for foreigners). This was very appreciated.
