First Rate view on Mount Fuji!
Hakone is not necessarily an action-filled place, but rather a location people go to rest and find some inner peace close to bustling Tokyo. One way to enjoy nature and even catch a glimpse of majestic Fuji is lake Ashi. We took a boat trip and enjoyed the casual trip. Of course it's touristic, but tourist go to places such as this for a reason - nature is stunning there, so nothing bad about it in my opinion. Also a great alternative for the cable car, should it be closed due to the strong winds, like the day we went.

On the tourist trail
We went on an afternoon Winter ride. The queue fills up quickly esp if there are buses. Then the seats on the boat full as well, and the deck can be chilly. The boat is kitch with a small stand thSt sells drinks and snacks (cash only, tax extra on items that do include tasty crackers and beer). The toilet was clean with the only (small) trash spot on the whole boat there. One of the boats has cute picture taking spots inside with pirates, for the kids. Scenery nice but not spectacular. Some riders didn’t even lift their heads from their phones! If you. Take the last boat back don’t dilly-dally as you’ve only 15 min to get on the last rope way (easy unless you have to do a potty break with little ones)
