Fun Factory Tour
Our kids enjoyed this factory tour and seeing how shirataki noodles, fruit jelly, and various food products are made from konnyaku. Machines and robots can be observed from observation windows above the factory floor as the production of various food products unfolds before your eyes. My boys found the process of robots assembling boxes from flat cardboard stock and then packing them with fruit jelly packs especially fascinating. At the end of the tour, a free buffet of various food products made from konnyaku is a highlight.

Decent factory overview and all-you-can-eat konnyaku
There's basically no English here, so just be aware of that. Also, if you're not familiar with konnyaku, it's a semi-gelatinous product formed from a plant root. You get to see konnyaku being made, as well as some packaged jelly manufacturing - both pretty interesting factory tours (well, overviews - you're on a platform above the factory floors with windows looking onto the production floor) And at the end, there's an all-you-can-eat konnyaku cafeteria. Some of it good, some of it is a bit strange (konnyaku curry???), but still kind of fun. And all free. If you're in the area, it's worth an hour or so of your time.

Free Fun
Most of the machines on the self-guided tour were being cleaned so you couldn't actually see them working, but there were still videos to show you the process. Maybe I just went too late in the day. Everything is in Japanese, but there were pamphlets in English available. The free buffet had several different types of konnyaku and it was fun to try the different styles. It's a bit of a walk from the nearest station, but worth the visit.
