Exquisite but also rather commercialized.
The display lights were on when we visited, so the whole place feels like a fairy wonderland. I love the pieces on display, the artwork is truly exquisite. However, the museum display portion is quite small and morphs quickly into the gift shops area. The shopping area feels larger than the museum area and it’s all really very commercialized.

I am always a bit dubious about themed museums but this one is very interesting and apart from whatever the exhibition is the gardens are beautiful to wander around in. The current exhibition is about mosaic work in both glass and wood featuring both Murano glass and Japanese woodwork. I usually avoid souvenir shops but this one has a vast range of some very desirable bits and pieces as well as the usual tat. I fell in love with a glass plate and now it is mine! Within the souvenir shop area are another two galleries with exhibitions by international artists. Don't miss them. The on site cafe Terrazza is good value for lunch, quality food at reasonable prices. If you buy your entrance ticket at your hotel and with your Hakone Free Pass you can get a discount.

A very interesting and nice Venetian Glass Museum
We had quite a fun time in this Glass Museum even though it was raining at the time time when we visit it. The crowd did not diminished because of the rain. Instead the crowd grows bigger due to the famous violinist performing at the inside of the exhibition podium. Overall it is a nice place to visit and stay for a short to see the exhibits as well as getting a glass gift for your love ones.
