Exploration Place is part of our family memories

Delve into hundreds of interactive exhibits that stimulate the mind and teach about science, and that's only inside the main building. Outside there's a park where visitors can observe Kansas wildlife in a wetlands habitat and dig for archeological treasures inside a giant sandbox.

    A gem by the riverside
This was an affordable and enjoyable family day out, with something for everyone. Our 12 year old enjoyed it a lot. Parking was convenient and free. Facilities are clean and modern. The science museum is housed in some stunning buildings alongside the Arkansas River. In places it feels like you are right out there in the water. There are a lot of exhibits, nearly all of them full of hands on interactives. There were live science demos and we enjoyed a movie in the giant dome theater.

A hit with our toddler (and his parents)
We greatly enjoyed our visit. A bonus was that we received a reciprocal admission discount by virtue of our hometown science museum membership--check to see if your local children's/science museum participates (must be at least 90 miles away). The building design on the river is striking, featuring lots of natural light and vistas. They have a variety of exhibits (easily 2 hours worth) that are up to modern standards, with a focus on interactive learning. There also are a couple of play areas to blow off steam. Staff were friendly. Convenient, free surface lot parking. We will recommend to others.
