Floating Market

Just got back from a great trip to Kalimantan! I went with my wife and our friend from work and we stayed two nights in Banjarmasin, so we checked out the floating markets and did a canal tour. Our guide, Mukani (081351194444 and email: [email protected]), was really awesome and I highly recommend him. He was really nice, informative and reasonably priced. We went out early in the morning, ate some good food, and got to see something that is unfortunately all too rare, community. Later that afternoon we met back up for the canal tour which I'll leave for you to experience yourself. Both were a lot of fun, and it was exciting to see some of the local culture!

Fresh fruits for good price. Early morning activity.
This is one out of three floating markets in Banjarmasin. Go before the dawn cracks. Market only last from 5-8 AM. To get here, we need to charter a boat for going around the market coz there is no water bus. Boat can take up to 20 ppl. Can be done onsite or from nearest dock from your hotel. Best done in group. The price offered are based on packages we take using the boat (whether it is going around the market only, market + Pulau Kembang (monkey island) or any other destinations. Try the local food sold on the boat (soto banjar, nasi tuning, etc) for a very reasonable price and local taste. Veggies and fruits are fresh and reasonable price. Need to bargain for best price. Try Buah Mentega, local fruit.
