A history buff’s delight
History buffs will love this castle-it has everything you could want. Brilliant medieval come renaissance building, artwork, furniture and artefacts that span centuries. The tour was in Danish; however, for none Danes like me an easy to follow detailed written manuscript/guide was provided. No photography is allowed inside but the grounds make some spectacular photo opportunities. The entrance building sells tickets to the castle, refreshments and souvenirs. The space is large enough for modern exhibitions. Danish artist Jim Lyngvild’s work was featured when I went.

Surprising Finds!
You won't regret this 45 minute ride from Skagen to tour this 15th century Renaissance Castle. You will find some treasures equal to those found in the Louvre, Hermitage and Versailles. I won't spoil it for you, but if you get the opportunity, go!

Hidden treasures
Visited the castle on a Saturday in October. We were the only visitors when we arrived. Despite not booking a tour in English in advance, the lovely old lady who normally only did Danish and German tours did a marvelous job. The castle is beautiful, well kept, and contains hidden treasures we'd never expected to find (From world famous paintings to Marie Antoinettes dinner set from her last dinner and Napoleon's gold clock) The tour was well worth the 100 dkk per person and a stroll around the castle definitely recommend (can report that the swans were friendly enough not to attack us when disturbing them).
