Danish History

The large castle dates back about 800 years and is beautifully situated close to the harbor. Ample parking is available in front of the museum. Exhibitions include both the history of the castle and the surrounding city and the wars in 1848-51 and 1864. In the latter the Danish Army was defeated by the Preussian and Austrian Armies and lost a large part of the Southern Jutland, which remained German until after WW1. The museum is definitely worth a visit.

    Emotional history
Beautiful located where Alssund meets Flensborg Fiord. Founded in the 12.century and describe the history and culture of the border region Slesvig-Holsten and its emotional history. This part of Denmark was under The German Empire in the period from 1864 - 1920
