Hirtshals Fyr, Jutland, Denmark

4.5 (229 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in North Jutland Lighthouses

Nice lighthouse with a great view!

The lighthouse is well cared for by people who love to do it. DKK 20 is a cheap entry fee and you can walk up the tower by yourself. The view of the top is fantastic and the stones at display in a room on ground level very interesting.

Nice place on a rainy day
Great views from the lighthouse. The surrounding bunkers are really worth visiting as well when you are here. Lighthouse offers a small glimpse of a long gone history.

    More than a lighthouse
Of course it is the lighthouse itself that attracts most of the attention, as this is also visible from all over the rather flat neighbourhood. But have a look around, and you will experience a lot more to see. The view of the ocean is magnificent from the top of the lighthouse, but if you don't want to climb all the stairs (144 steps), you get as well a great view from the ground level. Before making it to the top you can also look up the web cam on the internet and see what it looks like from the top! Be prepared for heavy wind if you walk around in the area, but on a nice day it is beautiful. And don't miss the varying art exhibitions in the side house. The quality of what is exhibited is usually very high. Further, the bunker museum only a few steps away from the lighthouse should be visited. The Danish West coast were filled with a lot of bunkers during the second world war, some still exists, and the one on the ground here is restored and you can have a look inside.
