Frilandsmuseet Hjerl Hede, Jutland, Denmark

4.5 (161 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in West Jutland Speciality Museums

Very nice living museum and a beautiful environment

We have had a season pass for the last few years, so we usually come some times every year. The environment is beautiful and the old houses match perfectly and give the feeling of going back in time. If you come during the time when the museum comes alive with reenactors, there's a lot to look at and experience, but even outside these times, it is a very nice place to just go for a walk (It's a couple or three kilometers around the whole premises). There's also a nice playground for the children and a good restaurant.

    Hjerl Hede Open Air Museum
Hjerl Hede Open Air Museum is an excellent way to see and experience the farm and village buildings and activities in them. Often there are live activities in many of the places. It is a spacious place where you will walk from house to house and go inside and look at what happened, and you will feel that you are 'back home'. You can also enjoy the nature. Food is available and you can bring you own. You need to have a car to reach the place. It is located between Holstebro and Skive.

This is a good place to see the "good old days" in action
We went there in the summer time , and found the workshops working, and the museum was interesting and well presented. It is a good place for kids, but also tecnic nerds has a lot of old stuff to dig into.. The whole family find something off interrest. Check if the workshops are manned first, and best in the summertime.
