Blaavand Zoo, Jutland, Denmark

4.0 (259 reviews) Spent Ranking #4 in South Jutland Zoos

Eye on eye with the animals

It’s relatively small, but you can easily spend 2-3 hours. The interaction with the animals is very interesting because most of them have a large habitat and no cages where you can go through. (OK, the lions have. ;-) ) It’s possible to feed lots of animals with carrots offered free by the Zoo direct at the animals habitats. For small kids “Bollerwagen” are offered free. Result: Small but fine! Ah, diverse playgrounds rounds the offer for kids!

Fun afternoon - great for kids
We've been to Blaavand Zoo several times and every time we're in Blaavand my kids want to visit again! It's a family-run, very kid-friendly place. It has graduated from a petting zoo into a proper (on a small size) one. So in addition to goats & rabbits which you can feed, there are kangaroos, zebras, lots of different monkeys/apes and even a couple of lions. You can easily spend an afternoon here, as there are a few play areas spread out and you're welcome to bring your one picnic lunch. Two thumbs up from all our kids :)

You get close to the animals
A family friendly small zoo where you get close to the animals. Great opportunities to pet many of the animals. The size of some cages are far too small for the inhabitants and most of the pastures are completely unattended, two facts that we found a bit awkward. There is a small shop selling ice cream, hot dogs and toy animals and there is horse/pony riding for a small fee. Our children appreciated the visit, so after all we can recommend this zoo.
