Interesting places

It's a good collection of WW2 German bunkers and well worth a visit if it interests you. You can explore most of the complex for free and you only have to pay to enter a few of the bunkers which they've restored :).

Excellent complex of German WW2 bunker fortifications to roam around - Fantastic !!
The museum is, in the main part, the complex of German fortifications built to defend the nearby port during WW2 and as such covers quite a wide area and can involve a lot of roaming around exploring the old bunkers. We visited on a Bank Holiday and used Google Maps to guide us - and it said the Museum was closed on Bank Holidays - but we thought we'd have a look anyway and to our joy Google got it wrong...(One to watch for...) The German bunker complex is quite extensive, Naval artillery positions (complete with the guns) crew bunkers, anti aircraft position, ammunition storage bunkers, command bunkers etc etc.... so there is a lot to see. Some bunkers are closed although many have exhibits in them. There is a very pleasant refreshment hut which doubles as a ticketting office and has some exhibits in. A lot of effort has gone into mapping what each of the bunkers did and part of the attraction of a visit is working out how the Unit would have functioned during the wartime years. There are some very interesting exhibits (German Naval HQ) some odd but interesting ( A bunker devoted to the NATO underground aviation fuel distribution pipeline system - info all in Danish ) and just naff (Childrens "peace" bunker. So theres a lot to see. Maybee a sixth of the complex lies within a Danish Naval facillity atop the hill and is naturally out of bounds to visitors. We had a smashing 3 or 4 hours roaming around the complex - and although my wife is not as excited as I am about bunker complexes (each to their own !) enjoyed the great views along the coast sat having an icecream ! If you have an interest in Military history this is an excellent museum and we found our visit interesting and are glad we went.
