little heaven surounded by karst valley
Location: Bleberan, Playen, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia Entrance fee: 5000 IDR (including visit fee to Rancang Kencono cave) Raft fee: 5000 IDR each (one way) Ride a raft or walk along paddy field to get to the fall Rent a life vest if you want to swim Nearby, we can also visit an underground cave “Goa Rancang kencana” with a huge tree in the entrance. It was quite dark inside; a flashlight would be help to explore the cave. Though, we can rent one from the locals.

    Just loved it
It will never cease to amaze me that there are people who go to a tourist site in Indonesia and then bother to write tripadvisor reviews that it is too hot and too many locals... This is a great waterfall. Depending on the water situation, you can do all kinds of stuff. The usual tourist infrastructure is heavy but doesn't touch the waterfall itself (Gunungkidul lives from tourism; what Singapore girl would begrudge a local family to make some money from selling roasted coconuts here?). One can choose cool times and seasons; I wouldn't go on a summer Sunday afternoon either. We had the falls to ourselves and one could really explore them, as well as the heavy currents in the river - magical, majestic, poetic, cool, a great experience! That said, to get to the falls on foot (which mostly works) does require climbing very high steps and treading slippery stones; don't try that if you are not at least average athletic and sure on your feet. Wading into the falls is at your own risk. And don't drive there if you have a sports car; the only street is a challenge.
