Abundant fosils, on their original place
Oh my God, unbelievable !!! I was reluctant to go there, because last time I went there with my high school friends on a bicycle tours and found only a small house, with three etalases. There were some pieces of bones, I could'nt tell what are they. But it was 20 years ago, a shameless long time for sure. In 2011, Sangiran has a modern three storey museum. So this time, I found a big building, clean, and air conditioned. The first part contains the original fosil found from three eras of sangiran area. Some of the fosils are so complete, it can be reconstructed into an animal including crocodile, deer, buffalo, and believe it or not a sabre teeth lion. Did they really exist here, in prehistoric Indonesia ? And of course the most important fosil here is the pythecantropus erectus, the famous early man found at Sangiran. Then comes the second storey, that tell the story of early mand-kind in time order. The quality of the story telling is superb, comparable to the best museums I have visited abroad. I think I can spend a whole day here, as intens as reading a comic. So compeling, honest. The third storey is about diorama. It was not completed yet, so there is much to come I guess. From the museum, I went to the souvenir market to buy some fosils. Yes, original fosil, no kidding. But only vegetables fossils, like tree, manggo or coconut, not an animal one (which is prohibited). It is amazing, I put the fosil in my guest room cabinet now. If you are looking for a real pre-historic evidence, Sangiran museum and its surounding is the best place to go in Indonesia, if not in the world.

The Hidden Gems of central Java
I came here in maybe 5-6 years ago, I didn't get any impression. But then I came here again after I joint an international class about human origins history, I found this museum is so dazzling with the richness of information about what happened with the human history in Java million-million years ago. I realized that with the information about this valuable place can change my mind so much. This place should be known for its wealth, not only about human history in Java but also in this world. You will not only learn about history but also find out that human is the most complicated yet blessed creature on earth that can life survived for a very long time. On the other hand, this museum also surrounded by 4 other museums and some important sites about the excavation of the fossil, you will maybe want to know about the other hidden gems. I know a lot about this place because my thesis takes place in here.
