a nice and safe mountain to hike near jakarta

a best mountain to hike near Jakarta (bogor area) with peak 3600 mdpl. and the best is the track is easy to climb and friendly. (hardly you will get lost) all the way to the peak and down. Starts near Safari puncak, a hike of non stop walk up will take around 5 - 7 hours. you can then go to another mountain (pangrango) or go down to the savannah surya kencana. there are sellers for food (local coconut rice or cup noodle) and water. still recomend to bring your own. one last thing, please do not pick the edelweis...

    Beautifull Mt. Gede-Pangrango
    Gunung Gede is a mountain in West Java that has a very high attraction for the hikers on the island of Java. Mount Gede has three official gates, namely National Gede-Pangrango Park (Cibodas) Halimun-Gede National Park (Sukabumi), & Gunung Putri (Cipanas). This time I will review through Cibodas. Normally trip to cibodas approximately 3 hours from Jakarta if you were not got the traffic jammed. If you are from Jakarta city, you can use public transportation to Bogor city (bus). From Bogor, you can continue the journey to Cianjur using a small vehicle, a colt or angkot, until Cibodas intersection. From there you can continue using the angkot to the gate or basecamp or PHPA Cibodas office to take care of the permits. Please note, if you want to hike Mount Gede you have to take care of the permit 3 days earlier & if you have never climbed before, it is advisable to use the services of a guide or porter to anticipate the worst, although actually the signs on this route is quite clear. Gunung Gede has beautiful scenery at its peak, duration for beginners approximately 10 hours. So prepare yourself as well as you can to enjoy the hike. The water source is quite abundant on this route, so there is no need to worry about the lack of water. Have a safe hike & keep our earth clean.

    Nice park but rip off for foreigners
    The national park is very beautiful and i entered from the Sukabumi side. If you would like to climb Gunung Gede be warned that foreigners must pay 200,000rp for a permit and Indonesians just 2,500rp. On top of this the guides fee is 350,000 per day and camping gear can be rented for an astronomical fee of 200,000rp per night. If you would like to climb it is possible to register and go without a guide as the path is very easy to follow yet you may well be stopped and asked a lot of questions before you head up. There are some beautiful waterfalls in the park and also a lot of places to camp. If you climb Gede then you can find water along the way but just bring one or 2 just in case.
