Jakarta MRT, Java, Indonesia

4.5 (118 reviews) Spent Ranking #3 in Jakarta Public Transportation Systems

new and efficient way to explore the city

This is a great way to get around the city if there are stops anywhere close to where you want to go. It is so much faster and more comfortable than a bus or even a taxi. I took it to a few different stops and then wandered around just to get to know the city, and it made for a very interesting day of sightseeing. It's really an engineering marvel, especially the below-ground section, since the water table is so high in Jakarta--it required a lot of impressive Japanese engineering and design and unique construction methods to build. Don't miss it, even if it's just to check out the system.

Great Solution to Avoid Jakarta Traffic Jam
I like using Jakarta MRT. Although Jakarta MRT hasn't cover all Jakarta area, but it is the best solution to avoid traffic jam in Jakarta at the rush working hour. The ticket price is not too expensive, using a card (electronic money). There are view bank merchant officers at the enterance, so you can buy the card or top up your e-money. The direction in the station and in the MRT is very clear. There are also lot of officer who can help if you still confuse, and they are very helpful.

    Impressive!
MRT existence in Jakarta had been long overdue. It was exciting when it finally became a reality. I read about it, saw photos of people enjoying the ride, and finally had the chance to try it out during my Jakarta visit. It was impressive! The station and the trains were clean, well-managed and orderly. Information can be found easily at the stations as well as on board the trains. The staff were helpful as well. It resembles Singapore MRT in many ways. Special shout-out has to be given to the micro libraries set up in some stations (I saw at least in 2 stations), stocked up with many interesting books - hopefully it fulfils its objective to get commuters to read more. I hope to see Jakarta MRT's maintenance kept up to standard, as well as its expansion to reach more places.
