Definitely worth a visit

Driver picked us up at 1am from Jln Malioboro where our hotel was for a 3+ hour drive to Dieng. Upon reaching at 330am, we took a trek up steps of Bukit Sukinur. Please be well prepared with jacket and beanie as it can get very cold. Especially when you’re waiting at the peak for over an hour for the sunrise and it’s very windy. It took around 30-40 min up to the peak; was tiring for me as I don’t exercise too much. Seeing the dark sky with the countless stars slowly fade as the sky brightened and the sun came up was worth all the hard work!! Very beautiful. After that, we visited Sikidang crater which was a short drive away and was a nice relaxing sight.

    Slow living and magical views
Enjoy a glimpse of slow living and fresh air in the plateau area in Central Java. Easy access, 4 hours road trip from Yogyakarta. You can enjoy a lot of beautiful spots such as temples, lakes. crates, waterfalls, savannas, and beautiful beautiful mountains and hills all in Dieng! This place can be your next short getaway or you can also stay longer to experience even more! Worth to visit!

I fell in love with the place.
Dieng is about 4 hours drive from Yogya, 20 km up the road from Wonosobo (benn here many times and a great place to buy veggies) and this was the first time in 13 years of living in Yogya, I'd made it finally to this stunning region. The entrance fee per peron is Rp. 10,000 paid at the gate and from there the road climbs though beatuiful country side with stunning views greating you the higher you go. There are various homestays to take a pick, from budget to up market, we rented budget villa because this trip was a staff expedition (25 people), a mistake on our part but hilarious so no one cared, but the next time, my wife and I will go up market. So choose you homestay carefully and ask the owner lots of questions re the facilities, such as is the kitchen fully equiped, ours wasn't! There is a lot to see and do, to much to list but you must do the sunrise tour, your homestay should be able to organize it for you, good shoes are a must, warm clothing and rain wear. Dieng is COLD so be warned, you are at altitude, the clods roll in and so does the rain, be prepared but you will fall in love with it, I did! Oh and try the Carica fruit, yum! I only bought 3 boxs, should have bought 10. Just another reason to go back.
