A beautiful Mosque

I recommend to visit here by online transportation. The area is so spacious. There is a tower than you can visit, it's called Asmaul Husna Tower. The outside mosque was so hot but inside was very fresh, probablye because there are many fans, and many architectures was made from woods. The toilet area was big and clean. There is an area to keep our shoes

Great Mosque of Central Java: Big and Modern Mosque
It's very nice to see this biggest mosque in Central Java. Very beautiful architecture design, the mosque style is a mix of Javanese, Arabic, and Greek. Incredible! It have many facilities such as library, auditorium, and even mechanical umbrellas. Central Java province, especially Semarang city is reasonable to proud to have and run this mosque. There is a tower near Great Mosque of Central Java called Asmaul Husna Tower. We can go up there to see the museum or see an aerial view from the top of tower. The entrance fee for this is relatively cheap, but we need to queue to use the lift, the more people who wanna go up, the more time and queue it takes. Local people here deem this mosque not only for praying but for gathering. If we visit this place in the morning or afternoon, we may see many local people gather here around outdoor courtyard to play or do some activities such as sport (jogging). I've got no complain when I was praying here, but when I tried to perform wudhu (ablution) in wudhu area of this mosque, the water did not out, so at the time I need to find another wudhu area. It's not good if the wudhu areas in the biggest mosque in Central Jave are not working. I hope this will be fixed in the future. Conclusion : It's really nice place for religious trip traveler, and people who loves culture, architecture, etc.

    Mosque with some different features
Having been to mosques in Asia, the Middle East, Turkey and Egypt it continues to be interesting to experience the different building styles and inclusions in mosques. Semarang Mosque is big (not as big as Jakarta) but built in local marble with a big forecourt. This can be covered by 6 huge German built mechanically operated umbrellas for shade/shelter which do not detract from the mosque's facade and we believe is a good innovation. Inside as you enter is a very large handmade Koran on display. The inside is carpeted in what appears to be one huge carpet. Standing on the carpet either side of the Imam's entry are 2 striking grandfather clocks - something I have never seen before in a mosque. On the way back through the forecourt we were stopped and asked by some local young women if they could have their picture taken with us - our guide explained it was our height (i'm 187 cms tall) and our hair colour (I was once a red head!) and my wife's - we have "ash grey / white hair. I admit we are no longer slim either!
