Another point of interest along the Malecón
Thursday 3rd February and we visited this Pier which is located at Playa los Muertos along the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta The main feature of the Peir is the large metal structure, known as the Sail, which is towards the end of the Pier. It is constructed with metal and wire mesh, which curl around the main mast giving the appearance of a sail. A footbridge, pier, with embedded designs, leads out to the sail and the small jetty at the end. The walkway circles the sail so visitors can walk around it. From the jetty there were a number of fishermen fishing. Small boats bobbed on the sea as they wanted to transport tourists to Las Animas, Quimixto, Mismaloya and Yelapa. It was fascinating to stand here and watch the numerous pelicans diving for fish, others chose to sit and dry off in the sunshine. There were views along the two sides of Playa los Muertos which the pier cuts across out into the sea.

A must walk to visit when in the old downtown PV
It is quite the landmark with the large sail like structure and the walkway that juts out into the bay. You actually walk all the way around the sail and there are benches to sit on or stand at the railing to take in the vista of the beach, the bay and the buildings of downtown. Watch people parasailing - taking off from the beach and pulled out over the water and back. Kids were diving into the water off the pier. Birds flying by. Kites being flown as well as the place to people watch from this excellent 360 degree view. Despite the hot sun, there is a constant breeze here making it so enjoyable.

fabulous place to visit, it is known locally at the sail and make sure you visit twice as during the day you can watch fishermen landing their catch, and in the evening the sail lights up and changes colour. Its located in downtown and is surrounded by restaurants, bars and shops. The pier is also the base for water taxis to Yelapa and at $21 us return it is bar far the cheapest way to get there. Perfect place to people and boat watch as well as seeing the pelicans flying around.
