Beautiful, smooth beach

We came here because you can drive on the beach for a small fee. It wasn't nearly as crowded as other local beaches. It was super smooth, very little shells. There were lifeguards on duty, but the bathrooms and showers aren't near the beach, they're near the campgrounds. Overall, it was a clean beach. We'd go back.

    Absolutely Beautiful Park
This is a wonderful park with some great camping. We stayed at site 47 which is towards the back and on the St. John's River directly across from the Navy base (in a tent). It was beautiful. A couple of things to note: 1. It looks like they have renumbered the sites, so I would be careful when booking to make sure you're looking at an updated map. 2. There is no water at the campsites. In fact, the only place that had potable water was up near the bath houses. If I were to do it over, I would have brought a giant jug that we could have filled and kept at the site for washing dishes, brushing teeth, etc. 3. They are currently laying huge rocks all along the beach that runs along the St. John's River. They are beautiful but it's important to note that you won't be able to walk down to the water from your site. With that said, there is water everywhere. There's a beautiful bay on the opposite side of the campground perfect for paddle boarding or kayaking and the beach on the Atlantic is only about a 5 minute walk from your campsite. All in all this place was wonderful and I would definitely go back.

    Too rustic for our taste
We wanted a view spot to stop and take pics while on a coastal drive. We paid $5 to get in and left within about 30 minutes. It's just not as pretty as where we were staying in Amelia. We didn't want to drive on the beach to the other side where the bird watching was, but I bet that part would have been cool. We stopped at the family beach parking lot, Maybe we should have instead stopped at one of the Talbot parks instead since we weren't camping. As a campground, I didn't find it that pretty. I think I like Ft. Clinch better.
