Captain Airek will show you a good time!!

My friends and I went out with the lovely Captain Airek on the Reggae when we were in Guatemala last year. It was a fabulous day! Kicking back in the sunshine and watching the spectacular scenery just drift by, swimming in the Rio Dulce, having a rum punch or two whilst listening to some great music... Can't recommend it enough!!!

Rio Dulce river excursion and hike
The Casa de la Iguna in Livingston, Guatemala is a great hostel with flare. We went on a trip up the Rio Dulce on a pontoon boat, loaded down with cold beer and lunch, with flip-flops and swimsuits for daywear. What we got was a full day of scenery, culture, swimming, caving, hiking and sun. Eric, the driver/owner, was awesome and full of both personality and knowledge. We visited another great hostel upriver, went on a cave tour at a spot that also harbors a hot spring and natural sauna, weaved through mangroves and around lush jungle islands, and swam all day long. If you find yourself in Livingston (and I highly recommend it) drop into stay at Rusty's hostel (the Casa de la Iguana). And don't miss this sweet trip. A great relaxing day for any timeframe, on even the smallest budget .

    Fiesta in el rio
The best experience i had during my stay at Casa de la iguana in Livingston was definatly Reggae on the river. If you get the chance...do it!!! Money back guarantee. The wonderfull host Airek is an expert in the life on the river and can tell you all about the surroundings while you are zipping a cold beer in the floating livingroom while getting to know a lot of people. Besides the eduacational part you will enjoy the music, the drinks and a great vibe. One of the stops include The round house wich is a great hostel on the river hosted by Chris and Dany who welcome you and will give you the chance to drink some great tequilla before going on further stops such as a Maya villaga and the hot springs. I did the trip twice and looking forward to do it again.
