The city of Buje, the so called Guard of Istria, is located at a small hill with a breath-taking view on the surrounding landscape. Truffles are hidden somewhere in these surroundings but you can also find them easily in the city, in the shop Zigante truffles – Buje.

Delicious experience at the Truffle Shop
We stopped by Livade during an afternoon driving around Istria, between visits of the villages Motovun and Groznjan. We were happy to find within the same corner, just 50m away, the Truffle Shop of Zigante and the Honey Shop of Medea, which is also highly recommended. We didn’t eat at the Zigante restaurant but instead tried the various truffle products offered at the shop. The staff was very friendly, gave us some explanation on the hunting process with dogs and the scarcity of white truffle compared to black truffle, and let us try all of the products available for tasting. You have to like truffle of course, but we learned some tastes we hadn’t seen before (white/black truffle pastes of course, bolerus paste, truffle ketchup, jam, mayonese, chocolate, chips, and a lot more mixes, olive oil... etc). Bread was available to enrich the experience. We ended up leaving with a jar of truffle with mushroom paste, and we were offered as gift a small truffle jam jar as well. All in all, an educative tasting experience!

A MUST-SEE IN BUJE! HUGE OFFER OF TRUFFLE PRODUCTS!
This little village is so nice with a great older part, nice restaurants and this high-class flagship truffles outlet from Zigante. Sure you can get also some of the great seller in nearby supermarkets however, this little shop has such a great offer of truffle products and the service person is wrapping your buys in nice paper or prepare them as a gift. You must not miss it ... if you are a truffles-maniac like me.
