A wonderful discovery in Central Istria
A wonderful discovery in central Istria. We came across the Pavlinski Monastery and church purely by accident. The church is wonderful and unlike other attractions entrance was free. The interior is beautiful with wonderful side chapels and stained-glass windows. The monastery is immediately next door with an intriguing museum of "thanks". Well worth a detour.

Beautiful village in the center of Istria
On the journey towards Motovun we stopped in beautiful Istrian village of Sveti Petar u Šumi ( St. Peter's in the Forest ). The place was created on the site of an old Benedictine monastery, later a Pauline one. In the 17th century it was an important cultural center. The center of the village is dominated by the church of St. Peter and Paul completed and consecrated in 1755. The inside of the church is beautiful. The Church has a high quality, well-preserved late Baroque inventory. In the center of the village there is a Pauline monastery with stone walls surrounded by a garden and a large square in front of the church and monasteries and buildings of the municipality. The famous Sausage Festival is organized in St. Peter's in the Forest, with a rich gastronomic offer. It is definitely worth a visit.
