Fantastic

The Rahmi M Koç Museum is the first major museum in Turkey dedicated to the history of Transport, Industry and Communications. Housed in magnificent buildings - themselves prime examples of industrial archaeology - on the shore of the historic Golden Horn, the collection contains thousands of items from gramophone needles to full size ships and aircraft.

Brilliant! The best part of my latest trip!
Definitely worth the 150TL (adult ticket, October 2022) Beware it's possible to miss a bit, there are signs to show "Where you are" but despite looking, I didn't find how to get to the trams! (I saw them from outside, when I thought I had seen all inside. There are a few non-transport displays - like some computers from the time of the original Apple Mac. Also steam driven machinery: for boats/ships, and woodworking. There were also many impressive models, especially of trains. If you haven't seen the amphibious car, you missed a gallery. It's among rowing boats in an upstairs section. I was a little bit disappointed in so many American cars, but there was a Ford Anglia (as in Harry Potter films), a mini cooper, and several from Rolls Royce. If you see the pub on the plans, it's accessed from the car park. I will go again! I drove there on a Sunday when the traffic wasn't quite as bed as usual. It seems awkward to get there by public transport.

    Really cool
Absolutely awesome. I came across this gem completely by chance as I was on the ferry and saw the historic SH ferry docked alongside a submarine and my curiosity was raised. The next day I went and was not disappointed. So many incredible exhibits! The museum was clean and well laid out and as I was there at opening time, I only had to share the facility with a handful of other visitors. I’d imagine that in “normal times” aka pre-COVID, hoards of screaming schoolchildren would have swarmed the place as it is a perfect spot for hands-on exploration. Great spot for anyone who loves transportation and especially trains.
