Worth a visit for history lovers

This parish museum in the village of Zabbar was inaugurated on 5th September 1954. It was the dream of Mons. Giuseppe Zarb to build a place where he could conserve items and show the devotion to the Madonna of Graces trough the times. The Museum was renovated in 2003 by parish priest Fr. Anton Cassar. The museum is run by a team of volunteers and is open every day between 9.00am and 12.00pm. Groups are advised to contact us beforehand as we can even organise a guided tour. Discount for groups of over 25 adult persons apply.

    A Parish history
This small unique museum is not on the tourist map but should be! Its run by the friendliest locals who have a real passion for thier local history and are only too happy to show you around. It contains a large collection of maritime votive paintings of the Order of St John in Malta. Other items on display include a picture gallery, sedan chairs, a portable altar, a unique large painting of the Gran Carrack Sant Anna, former titular paintings, a medieval fresco, a complete ceremonial suit of armour, statues, silverware, stamps, documents, coins, medals, sculptured wooden fixtures from the ship R.M.S. Alcantara, the sole surviving plague hearse, the clock mechanism formerly in the Sanctuary’s belfry and the remains of an R.A.F. Vulcan Bomber which exploded over Zabbar in 1975. A truly eclectic mix of Parish history at a very reasonable entry price.

A tour not to be missed
I went with my wife to visit the Sanctuary in Zabbar. The guide tour named Guzeppi has the most talented gift as a tour guide and really knows the history by heart and really knowns how to explain it. I've been living in Malta all these 59years and I never new what big history this Sanctuary has! Thanks to Guzeppi the guide tour that he explained the history so well that we felt that we were living it in that moment! Thanks Guzeppi. I re commend that you would go there when you have the chance because it is worth it.
