    A real gem
We came upon this by accident, it is a fascinating place with relics from the 1560's onwards, including artefacts belonging to Vallette himself. The curator was very friendly and informative I could have spent a lot longer there.

Fantastic volunteer and what amazing surprises awaited us within!
Our family were umming and ahing about whether to go in. It was our last day; we were tired; we didn't have a lot of time... we went in and what a treat it was to have this amazing as our final museum on this holiday! We found the most delighted, engaging and passionate person showing us round out of anybody we'd met in the heritage sector in Malta! He told me I looked Maltese and was very pleased that I was complimented, which I was. He showed us their copy of the letter and medal given to Malta by King George VI. He also showed us Jean de Vallette's hat and sword and some cannon balls from the Great Siege of 1565 and explained to us about the bombing of the old clocktower and church during the Second World War. Thanks to our friendly and knowledgeable guide we managed to get a huge amount out of a relatively short visit. I'd recommend this museum to anyone. (Minor point - the categories I've been offered below include "Family" but the oldest option is "teens" which isn't correct - we're all older than that - but that's the one I've ticked.)
