Enjoyable family walk with interesting geographical features
If you're interested in walking visit during winter or autumn. If you're driving, park your car at the start of Kalkara valley and walk along the valley to enjoy the typical Mediterranean agricultural landscape, particularly to the east of the valley. At the end of the valley you get to Mistra Bay, a small pebble beach. This is a good starting point for a boat trip to St Paul's islands. A scenic walking route can be taken if you head to the right (facing the beach), past the boathouses. There are some ancient steps carved in the rocks to go up the hill. You will come across a collapsed cave on your right as you are going uphill. At the top of the hill you can enjoy a typical garrigue landscape with several indigenous Mediterranean plants. You can also enjoy the seaviews of Xemxija Bay.
