    So much more than expected!
We got our Mt. Kilauea tour with HoppaOn, Hoppa Off. Our tour guide, Gene, was excellent with the information he shared. He stayed with us the whole tour, explaining Hawaiian history with detail and sharing interesting facts and trivia. Not only did we see the volcano, we also stopped at the Lava Fields of Lua Mano, walked through the Lava Tube, saw the Orchid Gardens, sampled nuts at the Macadamia Nut Factory, tasted coffee at the Coffee Plantation, dipped our toes in the water at the Black Sands Beach, and marveled at the beauty of a botanical garden. A great full-day tour for less than half of what the cruise line or other tours charged.

Kilauea is currently asleep, but still a good location to visit
2018 was an active time for this volcano but in Feb 2020 she was asleep and there is actually a lake forming in her crater. But understanding her history was most interesting. Stay if you can at Volcano House, a historic American lodge. And if you can book a helicopter ride that fly around the island and to the edge of this volcano
