    Beautiful and Accessible
    Sun Bay Beach is a long beach just east of the town of Esperanza. It is the equivalent of a mainland state park, in that there is a nominal admission charge to drive in if the gate is manned. It's absolutely worth it. First of all there is a very good outdoor cafe with real rest rooms, something you cannot say about other beaches on Vieques. A dirt road runs along the beach and there is easy parking wherever you choose to stop. The water was beautiful and the beach is so long that you are not crowded at all. Horses graze mostly on the other side of the road from the beach. It's a beautiful beach that is much easier to access than most of the wildlife preserve beaches.

    Beautiful and very busy on Easter weekend
    The beach is wonderful. You can easily enter the water, it is warm but there is some natural shade too. Park your car on the grass, the sand is apparently full of turtle nests. Locals are camping on the beach, it's a small fee for that. Sometimes you have to pay $2 to come to the beach too. There are zero vendors around, you just need to bring your own snacks and drinks, or a full bbq/picnic menu.
