    Glad we didn't miss this!
An enormous museum with tons of displays that really illustrate the Czech/Slovak lifestyles, their music, clothing, history, etc. plus their struggle with Communism. Their experience should be a warning to any country trying to promote Socialism and Communism! Very informative and very much worth ones time to learn more about another culture. Their gift shop looks amazing but we didn't have time to go inside. Our time was spent learning and soaking up the history and culture.

Great visit, no crowds. We nearly had the place to ourselves.
On a nice sunny Friday morning in March we came to visit this museum. Due to the current virus situation there was no one else there but the museum staff. I knew very little about the Czech history, even though my grandmother was 100% Czech. Two years prior we had been in Prague, Czech Republic and really loved that city. Still I wanted to know more. This museum delivers much telling the history, the people, the struggles and the immigration. Great informative displays on the 1989 Velvet Revolution and even a video of the that historic demonstration in Prague. Outside the museum building, is a restored old home once lived in by a Czech immigrant family. This home was moved here from across the river when more like them were all being destroyed. In 2008, there was a great flood in Cedar Rapids and the museum had to be raised and turned to what you see today. Outside in front is a big clock tower that chimes every quarter hour. This place is really worth a visit.
