    Hoover summer visit
I was here many years ago. And, like before, I continue to be amazed at how much I do not know. The library/museum is about a mile north off the exit. It is very easy to get to and there is adequate parking. Since the last time, they have made changes to the front of the museum. Very beautiful and very welcoming It is best to start the tour with the video explaining Hoover’s life. This will help you as you take the self guided tour from the start of his life to his end. The grounds are beautiful and both President and Mrs Hoover are buried on-site. It is a must to see the grave sites. There are many outbuildings to visit including Hoover’s boyhood home. There are picnic grounds available on-site which were clean and covered which was great for a sweltering summer day. The museum is adjacent to the downtown district for shopping and meals. Hoover gets a bad rap for the depression. The museum does a great job of showing the whole man and all his accomplishments. The visitor center is adjacent also with more artifacts and another video. I recommend for everyone! I will be back!

Seeing Hoover in a new light
I used to gang up on Hoover like many others, but in light of recent history, Hoover looks pretty darn good. He was, by and large, a very decent and honest human being who tried his best to serve his country and others around the world. The museum does a good job of being very honest about Herbert Hoover without heaping undue praise. I walked away with a much better understanding of the totality of the man. The nearby birthplace and other grounds were a nice walk as well.
