Beautiful and historic building
Our docent gave an excellent tour, took time to answer questions for our group of 4; she was very enthusiastic about the building and history. I highly recommend the tour; anyone not up for the winding staircase to the dome can skip that part at the end. It is definitely the most beautiful state house in the country!

Iowa State Capitol Building
For every State I visit, I try to visit the State's Capitol Building. The structure of this building is more traditional and is similar to some of the other Capitol buildings that I have been to! They do offer FREE self-guided and docent-led tours. For the formal tours, you have to call in advance to book the tour, and they typically run 80-90 minutes. The docents are very knowledgeable and nice! I really enjoyed walking through the Capitol and learning more about Iowa's history! Building is solo – friendly, wheelchair and stroller – friendly
