Cool place
Inner Mongolia Museum should be a bit of a tip off, it’s all about Inner Mongolian history. Thankfully that means a very cool dinosaur exhibition over two floors!! The Mongolian stuff is cool to see, interesting history, they walk you through the prehistory up to …. when the area came under Chinese/Han control, weapons, pottery, clothing and housing. It’s very well done, lots of English signage too. Thinking of where you are, expect kids to be running around making too much noise. This being Inner Mongolia, they are proud of their Dinosaurs and have done a great job with the exhibition.

Best Dinosaurs maybe in the world.
If you like dinosaurs this is possibly one of the best museums in the world. Many fossils and bones are found in Inner Mongolia, and they are beautifully displayed, with a reasonable number of English translations. There is a 9m high diplodocus, a Femur bone bigger than me, a whole woolly mammoth and numerous dinosaurs that I didn't even recognise. I have been to the Natural history museum in Landon and for dinosaurs this was better. Great Dino gift shop too. The other sections, are good, some very old pottery, and some well thoughtout 'real life' displays of life in different eras of IM history. The space room was closed when we went. My kids are 9+11, they did get a bit bored, of yet more pottery, or weapons towards the 3rd floor.

A Fantastic Museum
The pictures on Trip Advisor don't do justice to this place! It is a stunning building and HUGE! Despite this we found it easy to get around and there are so many floors of displays, none of which were ever crowded. The Museum covers biological and historical stages of Inner Mongolia.Really impressed with the set up, but also the quality of the displays and information, which was always in English-Mongolian-Chinese. Did not see many other Westerners - perhaps Hohhot is not on the 'list' for international travellers
