Old Ben - World's Largest Steer & Giant Sycamore Stump, Indiana, United States

Super fun find

I personally love these kitschy attractions. This one did not disappoint. It is in Highland Park and the steer and the stump are in glassed in shelters. Which is good for them to stay free from damage, creates minor issues wiht viewing from glare and major dirty glass. The story of each is displayed and a really great touch. you can park right at them and there is a paved walkway to them.

    Unique Roadside Oddity- Fun!
All-in-all this takes about three minutes to enjoy, but it is such a strange attraction I can't help but recommend it! Old Ben and the stump are housed in the same building situated on a very, very lovely park (which also features a covered bridge!!) with picnic tables, playground, and easy parking. You can't go into the enclosure where these giants sit, but you can look through many windows and all vantage points to enjoy them. They are just what they sound like- a massive tree stump (like- HUGE), and a massive cow (bull? don't know). Two fun pieces of Americana with roadside oddity vibes. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

    We just Had to!!
While waiting for the Elwood Haynes museum to open we thought that we would stop by and see old Ben and the stump. Of which we did. Old Ben is enclosed in plexiglass which made the morning light tough to get good pictures. But we still enjoyed seeing these sights. It also gave us some time to let our dogs stretch their legs. I do recommend a quick stop to see these!
