Like Visiting Old Friends Who Just Happen to Have a Herd of Bison!
Took a last minute road trip with a group of friends. A long time teacher, school administrator and volunteer in our group. From the minute we arrived an hour early for our tour, to saying goodbye for now, we were welcomed and encouraged to visit. Ruth, Bud and Wally are the kind of folks you wished lived next door to you. SO knowledgeable and passionate about Bison. We learned so much during our visit. The tour starts out with a video presentation and talk, Bud was a very interesting speaker, and took plenty of time to answer questions. The hay rack ride was an experience! The herd ran to meet the tractor....being in the midst of all that energy....and the size of these animals, you really cannot appreciate how amazing they are until you are up close. There is a cute little shop, I bought a wooden bowl and Bison stew meat to take home. I learned that if you want to encourage Bison farming, you should be eating Bison! Seriously, what a terrific day, you should go!

Amazing!!
We were in the area and stopped after hearing about this farm. The bison were close enough to see and watch. We learned a lot from the owners who were very welcoming. There are lots of things to see in the store and meat is on hand to take home. There are lots of interesting and beautiful gifts along with all types of jerky to savor. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful animals and meeting the owners.

Learn about the amazing Bison without going to a national park
Visiting the Broken Wagon Bison farm will teach you more about Bison (Buffalo) then you can imagine. For $10 you get some sample Bison jerky, an interesting lecture from the farm owners, and then a tour of the Bison herd on a hay ride pulled by a tractor. And this gives you a chance to get really up close and personal with these amazing animals. Sure, they have an extensive gift shop with interesting Bison products, and they sell Bison meat which they harvest, but the care that goes into managing and breeding these animals is REALLY interesting and the family members who own the farm are all opening and closing gates, selling the tickets, etc. This is a WONDERFUL thing to do with your kids, and a real fun activity bargain at $10 a person. Be sure and check the website or call them to make sure they are giving tours when you want to come. About a 25 minute ride from the Dunes National Lakeshore or from Chesterton Indiana.
