Berry great U-Pick farm in city location
The Blueberry Ranch covers 90 prime acres in the city limits of Mishawaka, IN- midway between South Bend and Elkhart. not far from the Indiana Tollroad.. Their berries are certified Organic, and by growing half a dozen or so varieties the picking season lasts a long time, usually starting in early July and lasting into August. Picked berries are also available along with blueberry products like jam, but most people head for the fields. A tractor-drawn wagon hauls you out to the fields that are far from the shed. Bushes are large and loaded with berries- stand-up picking for the most part; it is easy, too easy, for one person to pick 10 or 15 pounds in an hour, and when you get home you realize with horror that you now have 30 pounds of blueberries to get rid of.. Most U-Pick blueberry farms just aim you into a general area and you are on your own to find bushes not already stripped. Not this place- a girl assigns specific bushes to you- untouched, unpicked and loaded with berries. You are asked how much you plan to pick and are assigned enough bushes to fill your buckets to that level. You do have to promise to pick your bushes as clean as you can of ripe berries, and you can ask for additional bushes if gastronomic greed takes over. No extra charge for the gobs of berries (samples...) you eat. The wagon hauls you and your potential pies back to the shed to pay and check out. Prices are a bit more than other area U-picks, but the fast easy picking and Organic rating makes up for it. By the way, everyone feels Berkeleys are the very best- flavor, freezability, and firmness in muffins and pies. Ample parking, Check hours and varieties currently being picked- unfortunately closed on Sunday., Bring the family!

A great place for grandparents and grandkids!
Brought my three year old grandson and a friend with her eight year old daughter. The kids loved the tractor that took us to the picking area. Berries were plentiful and everyone got their own Picking Bush. We came back with 5 pounds of berries each and everyone had a great morning. You could buy snacks, too and we will definitely come back next year. Very well run operation!
