Writers Theatre boldly looks to the future as it begins its 31st season. Having captivated audiences for years with its dedication to creating the most intimate theatrical experience possible, the theatre is now a major Chicagoland cultural destination with a national reputation for excellence, being called “America’s finest regional theater company” by The Wall Street Journal. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Braden Abraham and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, the company is charting a path forward for the next 30 years. Since its founding in 1992, Writers Theatre has stayed true to its core values: valuing the power of the written word and uplifting the artists who bring that word to life. The company has produced over 120 productions—everything from inventive interpretations of classics to groundbreaking new work. In 2016, Writers Theatre opened a new, state-of-the-art facility designed by the internationally renowned Studio Gang Architects.

We are so lucky to have this gem
I love going to plays here - first of all the building is lovely. I recommend showing up a little early for the performance to enjoy sitting in a spectacular spot to have a drink. The plays are consistently of high quality. Plus, you barely need to leave extra time for parking because there's ample parking once all the shops close in Glencoe. The location also could not be more convenient for people taking the Metra. It's literally right across the street. When you're looking for an artsy evening with no stress or hassle, Glencoe Writers Theater is a great option.

Beautiful Theater with gorgeous complex sets and wonderful performances
Writer's Theater is located in downtown Glencoe. You won't have any problem finding close free parking. The beautiful architecture of the building is warm and completely functional. There are two theaters in the building. The theater is looped with T-coil for those with hearing loss so patrons can actually hear the show. If you don't have T-coil, the desk will loan you headsets if you need one. There are no bad seats in the theater. There is small wine, tea and snack bar in the beautiful lobby. The sets for every show have been elaborate. The performers are consistently engaging and highly talented. I have seen at least a dozen performances with a subscription and look forward to each and every one.
